Stephanie Hughes has been in public education for 22 years, 6 as an English teacher and 16 as a school counselor, all at Alamo Heights High School. Raised in South Texas, she moved to San Antonio in 1991 to attend St. Mary's University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, with a secondary education certification. Later, Stephanie went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in Counseling at The University of Texas San Antonio.
As a recent Catholic convert, Stephanie's Patron Saint is Mary Magdalene, and she shares her commitment to living her life as one of Jesus' apostles, boldly proclaiming The Good News with others. As our new wellness counselor, Stephanie will use her years of experience to support our children, staff, and families with all of our social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Stephanie has two children. Her son, Montgomery will be a junior and her daughter, Bennett will be an 8th grader.
